Yesterday I think I panicked a little. It was a busy and trying day. I spent most of the day in extra protective gear as I had to replace four central venous lines. Four of our patients had persistent blood infections. One source of blood infections can be intravenous lines that have been placed to deliver medications to a patient. When placing these types of intravenous lines, on top of the normal protective gear, we wear additional sterile gowns to prevent introducing any bacteria to the new central intravenous line. Suffice to say, all the gear is very hot. This is probably the reason that towards the end of my shift yesterday, I was particularly tired and had a headache. However, once I started experiencing these symptoms I couldn't get it out of my head that I might be infected.
However after a good night's sleep, I feel a little better, but I still got the test. Not pleasant! Q-tip, waaaaaay up each nostril. Yikes! Should have results by sometime tomorrow. I'll keep you posted. Stay safe my friends and don't panic. That's all for now.
