Lots of good news today. Both patients that we extubated two days ago, remain off the ventilator, breathing on their own. I am so happy and remain optimistic! Having a second day off in a row has been amazing. Very thankful. Returned to NYC. In Manhattan, and likely other boroughs, every night for several weeks at exactly 7pm, residents open their windows and clap, bang pots, and cars honk in recognition of health care workers. So I went to record that, here it is:
The other reason I returned to Manhattan is that I had read that the Empire State Building had changed it's lights from the usual blue to red, pulsating like a heartbeat, to recognize the COVID pandemic. So, I drove in to the city, drove around for about an hour looking for a good place to get a video of this to document. I found a place to park, and waited for the lights of the Empire State Building to turn on. I waited about a half hour and finally the lights turned on. However, when the lights turned on, they were the usual blue. I googled , "when will they turn red, pulsating like a heart beat. I then read further and found, it was only done from March 30th-April 2nd. Should have been more thorough in my research. Damn. But here are the pictures I took anyway. And I had to go pee the whole time! It pays to be thorough!
Back to work tomorrow. That's all for now.
